Energy transittion and energy innovation are ongoing topics in the north of the Netherlands. A new, solar energy project nearby Groningen is being talked about.
Dagblad van het Noorden, Dutch news provider reaching about 400,000 people daily through their printed magazine, website, app and other channels has now published an article announcing that Ply Energy from Groningen plans on building a solar park, installing 19,000 solar pannels on the old seawall along the Kwelderweg in Eemshaven.
The solar park would achieve capacity of nearly 5 megawatt, an equivalent of approximately 1,300 households usage. The investment needed for the solar park project equals 5mln euro.
Whether the solar park will come to existance depends on several factors, including subsidies from Ministry of Economic Affairs. Ply Energy is about to request those subsidies and is positive about the outcomes. If everything goes well the park will be ready to use in 2017.
