Oelinda de Vries, 22 year old citizen of Groningen and, as she describes herself, a party animal well-known among going-out students, has won the elections for the role of the Night Mayor of Groningen for 2016-2018.
Oelinda is taking over the responsibilities of Chris Gerrit who in the last years was trying to bridge the vivid night life of Groningen with the municipality, diverse organisations and people living in the city trying to get some sleep at night.
Even though Merlijn Poolman, 28, very active and without a doubt experienced party-organiser with great network in Groningen and proven social skills has been leading in the online voting, the title has been given to somebody else.. and few minutes later taken away and given to Oelinda as the selected jury had a final say in this matter.
We wish Oelinda de Vries best of luck and we are looking forward to see a positive impact on the night life of Groningen (which, BTW, is great already).
